The #BerkleeAnywhere Concert Series features Berklee College of Music and Boston Conservatory at Berklee students performing virtually, from wherever they are in the world. We may be separated by distance, but music empowers us to unite. Wherever you are, we invite you to connect with us every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET on Berklee’s IGTV and Facebook pages.

About the Artist

Kristalis Sotomayor was born on September 14, 1998, in Humacao, Puerto Rico. Her father began teaching her music when she was 4 years old, and at 5, he took her to a school of music where she started to develop as a musician. When she was 10, she auditioned to participate in her first symphony, playing flute with the Symphony Orchestra of Puerto Rico, and since that time, she was the first flutist of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Puerto Rico, which was invited to receive President Barack Obama when he traveled to Puerto Rico. Other accolades include being invited to present a workshop called Care and Dedication and being invited by the director of the Puerto Rican police band to play with them. Sotomayor has participated in a Berklee summer camp in Puerto Rico, and she auditioned and won a full scholarship to attend the Berklee Five-Week program. In 2013, she won a summer scholarship to the Luzerne Music Center's summer camp in New York and won first place in a competition as a soloist flutist. She received a full scholarship to study for her bachelor's degree at Berklee.

Currently, Sotomayor is studying and developing as a flutist with piano as her second instrument. She has more than 140 performance and other videos on YouTube and has played the music from the Harry Potter films with an orchestra at Berklee Performance Center. She has also recorded several movie soundtracks with Berklee's Film Scoring Orchestra. She's teaching as a private music teacher, concentrating in flute technique, and has given several master classes to high school students at a summer camp organized by the Puerto Rican police. She will graduate from Berklee in May 2021 with a degree in performance and music education.
