The Berklee Indian Cultural Association (BICA), housed within Berklee India Exchange, is a student-led community that celebrates the many cultures and traditions that make up India. Founded in 2023, BICA brings students together through music, festivals, food, and conversation that foster connection, cultural exchange, and community.

For students away from home, BICA offers a familiar space to celebrate the festivals, foods, music, and moments they may have grown up with. For the wider Berklee community, it creates opportunities to experience Indian culture firsthand—whether that's through attending a Diwali celebration, joining a workshop, discovering new music, or sharing a cup of chai and conversation at one of BICA's signature mixers.

Beyond cultural programming, BICA also creates opportunities for students to build meaningful relationships, collaborate creatively, and expand their networks across Berklee's campuses. Through shared experiences and student-led initiatives, members connect with peers from different disciplines and backgrounds, forming friendships and professional connections that often extend well beyond their time at Berklee.

2025–2026 Co-President Diva Savla reflects on BICA's impact:

"As president, I've seen the impact of that firsthand. I've watched students walk into their first BICA event nervous and unsure, and walk out smiling, connected, and already looking forward to the next one. Some find comfort in hearing their native language after days of silence. Others try Indian food for the first time and fall in love with it. And many find friendship and confidence through performing, volunteering, or just showing up."

What began as a student organization has grown into a community built on participation and connection. Through events like Chai Chaats, festival celebrations, performances, workshops, and social gatherings, BICA has created traditions that students return to year after year. These moments make room for new friendships, cultural exchange, professional networking, and a sense of belonging that extends beyond campus events.

Mission

BICA's mission is to create opportunities for students to connect with and celebrate Indian culture through events, conversations, and creative experiences. The organization strives to build a welcoming community where students—especially those away from home—can find belonging, share their traditions, grow their networks, and invite others to learn alongside them.

Vision

BICA envisions a Berklee community where Indian culture is celebrated not just during special occasions, but as an ongoing part of campus life. Through its programming, BICA hopes to spark curiosity, encourage connection, and create spaces where people from all backgrounds can come together to celebrate, learn, collaborate, and build community.
