Description

Women Songwriters of the 20th Century Ensemble will perform the music of Carole King, Nina Simone, Stevie Nicks, Abbey Lincoln, Joni Mitchell, Bonnie Raitt, and more. In this course, students will explore multiple genres of music and styles of storytelling through song, while honoring and celebrating these influential women. Students participate in weekly supervised rehearsals, and repertoire will be learned both by ear and by chart. Leadsheet writing skills are required. This course emphasizes stylistic integrity and melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic accuracy.
