Electronic Dance Ensemble
This is an entry-level ensemble designed to strengthen EDI players' live-group performance skills in various electronic dance music styles and subgenres. Students will first work with repertoire curated by the instructor. They will then have the chance to submit their own choices for covers or original songs to be learned, which they will be responsible for arranging for ensemble performance. Building on basic skills such as clip launching, live synth playing/sample triggering, and real-time effects processing, students will gain experience in performing electronic music from several decades and genres, including electro, house, drum and bass, Jersey club, hyperpop, and lofi. Emphasis will be given to stylistic integrity and sound design, as well as melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic accuracy.
